Mr. Joseph E. Dougherty, 68, of Meshoppen, passed away at the 
Regional Hospital of Scranton on Thursday evening January 12, 2012. 
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, on August 23, 1944, son of the late 
Edward J. and Catherine Burke Dougherty. Joe grew up on the family 
farm on Shannon Hill in Auburn Center, Pa. He graduated from the Elk 
Lake High School, class of 1962. After high school, he served his 
country for four years in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in 
Germany. After his discharge from the service, he would later work 
for Auburn Township. During that time he also helped his cousins 
Jerry and Gail Burke and family at Shamrock Auctions. It was there 
that he became interested in the auctioneering business, and Joe 
became a licensed auctioneer and worked with his cousins for many 
years, and retired just recently. It was at the auctions that he 
made many friends, and he made a great impression on everyone he 
met. Joe was a devote member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help 
Catholic Church, in Meshoppen. He was a very active member of the 
St. Joachim-St. Bonaventure Cemetery Association. He was also a 
member of the Rought Hall Post 510 American Legion, in Black Walnut, 
and in his spare time he loved to collect many things, with his 
antique tractors and tools most dear to his heart. Besides his 
parents, Joe was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Ann 
Dougherty. He is survived by an aunt, Mrs. Regina Burke Graham, of 
Endicott, N.Y.; and an uncle, Edward T. Burke, of Johnson City, N.Y. 
He is also survived by his cousins, Jerry and Gail Burke, William 
and Clara Burke, Patricia Beirne, Margaret Graham Hellenga, Marty 
McGavin, Tim and Tracie McGavin; as well as many great cousins. 
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Sheldon 
Funeral Home, Main St., Meshoppen, with a Mass of Christian Burial 
at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, in Meshoppen, at 11 
a.m., with Fr. Joseph Manarchuck of the church officiating. 
Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure's Cemetery in Auburn. 
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon 
from 2 to 5 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on 
Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. Military services will be held at the 
Rought Hall Post 510 American Legion Social Hall, on Monday 
afternoon, a funeral luncheon will immediately follow the interment 
at 1 p.m., conducted by the members of the Rought Hall Post 510 
American Legion, the Dennis Strong Post 457 American Legion and the 
Endless Mountains Post 3583 VFW. In lieu of flowers, those wishing 
may make memorial donations to the St. Joachim's-St Bonaventure's

Robert C. Carney

Robert C. Carney Sr., 84, of Meshoppen, died early Tuesday morning 
at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock. He is survived by his 
wife of 57 years, the former Margaret A. Tinna Carney, whom he 
married on April 3, 1954. 

Robert was born in Kingston on March 2, 1927, the son of the late 
Clyde and Dorothy Robertson Carney. Growing up in Forkston and 
Mehoopany, he was a graduate of the Forkston-Mehoopany High School. 
After high school, he served his country during World War II in the 
Army from 1945 until 1947. During most of that time he was stationed 
in Switzerland, near the border of Germany, where he was a medic 
with the medical detachment of the 4th Constabulary Regiment. After 
his war service, he was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and 
truck driver, hauling milk and stone around the Meshoppen area. For 
many years, Bob was employed by AB Cole Trucking of Meshoppen. In 
1983, Bob started working alongside his longtime friend, Rube Ruark, 
the founder of Penn's Best Trucking. For the next 25 years, he was 
employed by Penn's Best, working in Pennsylvania, and at Rube's 
homes in Georgia, and Florida, until ill health forced his 
retirement.

Bob was a member of the Rought Hall American Legion Post 510 in 
Black Walnut, Pa., and was a member or past member of the Meshoppen 
Fire Company, the Meshoppen Rod & Gun Club, the Meshoppen Men's Club 
and was elected to the Meshoppen Borough Council and Meshoppen 
Borough Constable. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and farming.

Also surviving are his three children, Robert C. Jr. and Tammy 
Carney, Meshoppen; Debbie and Jim Jones, Charleston, Ark.; and Sue 
Hutchinson and Cameron Kelley, Meshoppen; 10 grandchildren and 10 
great-grandchildren; a brother, David and Joanne Carney, Tucson, 
Ariz.; many nieces and nephews, especially a special nephew and a 
longtime caregiver, Kenny Kramer, Meshoppen.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean McClaferty, in July 
2004.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Sheldon 
Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen, with the Rev. Tom Mott of the 
Meshoppen United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in 
the Carney Flats Cemetery, near Mehoopany.

Family and friends may call Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Military 
services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday morning 
preceding the funeral by the membership of the Rought Hall American 
Legion Post 510, the Dennis Strong Post 534 American Legion and the 
Endless Mountains VFW Post 3583.

Lewis M. Parr

Lewis M. Parr, 69, of 3259 SR 3009, Meshoppen, passed away at his 
home in Auburn Township, Susquehanna County, on Friday afternoon, 
May 27, 2011, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Delaware, N.J., on March 10,1942, the son of the late 
Milton Lewis and Melva Pearl Smith Parr. 
Growing up in New Jersey he was a graduate of the Blairstown High 
School, in Blairstown, N.J.
After high school he served his country in Korea, with the U.S. Army 
from 1963 until 1966.
On October 13, 1968, he married the former Barbara E. Smith, and 
have been together for the last 42 years.
For many years, Mr. Parr was employed as an auto mechanic at C&E 
Transmissions in Tunkhannock, retiring in 2004.
He was a member of the Rought Hall Post # 510 American Legion in 
Black Walnut, and a member of the Memory Chasers Car Club. His proud 
accomplishment was the restoration of his 1963 Pontiac Bonneville 
convertible.
Surviving is his wife Barbara E. Smith Parr of Meshoppen; and his 
children: Annette E. and her husband Christopher N. Proehl of 
Meshoppen, and Lewis S. (Guy) and his wife Jennifer A. Parr of 
Scranton; also his grandchildren: Andrea N. Proehl of Meshoppen, and 
Rachel L. Parr, Jessica L. Parr, and Matthew L. Parr, all of 
Scranton. He is also survived by two sisters: Edna Osborn of Mt. 
Bethel, and Mary and her husband Vincent Strouse, of Blairstown, 
N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
Abiding of the wishes of Mr. Parr, there will be no calling hours, 
or funeral services. A memorial service will take place at a later 
date at the convenience of the family. Interment will be private at 
a later date as well.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to the 
charity of the donor's choice.

Leo T Hope

Leo T. Hope, 65, of Lovelton, Pa., passed away on Monday, July 5, 
2010 at the Mercy Tyler Hospital in Tunkhannock, Pa. 

Lee was born on March 31, 1945 in Lovelton at the family farm of his 
parents, the late Robert Francis and Genevieve Margaret Coyle Hope. 
He attended the Lovelton grade school, Mehoopany Elementary School 
and the Tunkhannock High School. He was an excellent mechanic and 
worked at Sick's Garage in Tunkhannock before entering the Army. He 
served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. He was a truck 
driver for several years and was elected as a supervisor for North 
Branch Township, Wyoming County. He also worked for Washington 
Township, Wyoming County, for several years until retiring. 

Lee was a member of St. Anthony's of Padua Catholic Church in 
Stowell, Pa., and a member of Black Walnut American Legion Post No. 
510 and a member of FWM Fire Co. of Mehoopany, Pa., and served as a 
fire policeman. 

Surviving are: a son, Leo. F. Hope of Hughesville, Pa.; two 
daughters, Amy Newvine of Hughesville, Pa., and Kristy (Thomas) Blair 
of Muncy Valley, Pa.; four grandchildren, Kristin and Gabriel Newvine 
and Casey and Jacob Blair; two brothers, Lewis (Jean) Hope of 
Dushore, Pa., and William (Georgette Smith) Hope of Lovelton, Pa.; 
three sisters, Helen Souto of Rome, Pa., Mildred (Harold) Prichard of 
Sugar Run, Pa., and Kathryn (Donald) Sedlak of Rome, Pa.; two 
brothers-in-law, Francis Ricci of Dushore and Tom Comstock of 
Laceyville, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by: brothers, Arthur Hope of Lovelton on Oct. 10, 
1969, and Joseph Hope of Lovelton on May 3, 1974; two sisters, Rose 
Comstock of Laceyville, Pa., on Jan. 20, 1974, and Patricia Ricci of 
Dushore, Pa., on July 30, 1992; nephews, Arthur Souto on May 18, 1972 
and Stephen M. Sedlak on Jan. 14, 1989; a great-nephew, Brian W. 
Barry on July 16, 2003; and a brother-in-law, Manuel Souto on Jan. 
28, 2010. 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday morning, July 9, 
at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, Pa., 
with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, Pastor of IHM Parish, Dushore, Pa., 
presiding. Interment will be in St. Anthony's of Padua Cemetery, 
Stowell, Pa. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, at 
the funeral home. Graveside military services will be accorded by 
members of Black Walnut American Legion Post No. 510, Laceyville, Pa.

Charles R. Boyer

Charles R. "Charlie" Boyer, of RR No. 2, Box 2342, Second Street, 
Laceyville, Pa., passed away at the Golden Living Center, 
Tunkhannock, on Thursday afternoon, April 22, 2010. He was born in 
North Wales, Pa., on September 12, 1933, the youngest son of a 
family of 16 children, to George and Endora Boyer. Mr. Boyer served 
his country during the Korean War, as a corporal, with the U.S. 
Marines, being discharged in 1961. After his service to his country, 
he was employed as a housing manager in Levittown, Pa., for over 15 
years. In 1972, he moved to the Meshoppen area, and would later own 
and operate, along with his wife, Charlie's Bar and Grill, in 
Meshoppen, from 1974 until 1987. After his retirement in 1987, he 
enjoyed woodworking. Charlie was a member of the Rought Hall Post 
No. 510 American Legion in Black Walnut, Pa. He was also a past 
member of the Meshoppen Rod and Gun Club and the Black Walnut Rod 
and Reel Club. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a 
son, David Repsher; a granddaughter, Michelle Davis; two grandsons, 
Clarke Davis and Michael Davis; a son-in-law, David Culver; and 15 
brothers and sisters. Surviving is his wife of 33 years, Evelyn L. 
Brotzman Repsher Boyer, who he married on November 20, 1976. He also 
is survived by his children, Mrs. Barbara Culver, Black Walnut, Pa.; 
Carol and Jim Furman, Terrytown, Pa.; and Roger Repsher, Laceyville, 
Pa.; along with 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren, and six 
great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. 
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010, at 
the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Laceyville, Pa., with the 
Rev. Kenneth Small, of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church, 
officiating. Interment will be in the Lacey Street Cemetery at a 
later date. Military services will be held at the funeral home on 
Sunday, conducted by the members of the Rought Hall Post No. 510 
American Legion, Dennis Strong Post No. 457 American Legion, and the

Eugene T Purdy

Eugene T Purdy, 85, of Laceyville PA died on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, 
surrounded by his family at Tyler Memorial Hospital, in Tunkhannock. 
He was married to the former Dorothy Arnold of Montrose for 61 
years. 
Born on March 11, 1924 in Endicott, N.Y., he was the son of the late 
John Sr. and Evelyn Westervelt Purdy of Vestal, N.Y. 
He is an alumnus of the Vestal School District. He enlisted into the 
U.S. Army in 1944, serving in the "Battle of the Bulge," he was 
awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service. 
He was employed by Endicott Johnson Shoe Company and Endicott 
Forging Works. He continued to work in Endicott until 1949 when he 
moved to South Auburn. He managed Harmony Hill Farm for his brother-
in-law the former Victor Vlasca. Eugene then purchased the farm from 
his sister-in-law following the passing of Victor. 
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, 
brother and friend, and is survived by daughter Melinda Jean 
Piccotti and husband John Piccotti of Transue; son Thomas G. Purdy 
of South Auburn; daughter Terry L. Purdy of South Auburn; son Keith 
A. Purdy and wife Annette Purdy of Vestal, N.Y.; son Blair H. Purdy 
and wife Janet Purdy of South Auburn; and daughter Gwen E. Wilcox 
and husband Glen Wilcox of Tunkhannock. 
He is also survived by seven grandsons; six granddaughters; 16 great-
grandchildren; brother Raymond D. Purdy of Vestal, N.Y..; and 
sisters Anna Tucker, of Montrose, Helen Dean of Sequoia, N.Y., 
Esther Weimer of Ancorage, Alaska, and Lasca Kisslinger of 
Louisville, Ky. 
He was preceeded in death by his daughter Cindy L. Sweeting; four 
brothers: Richard Purdy, John Purdy Jr., Runyon Purdy, and Ivan 
Purdy. 
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at 
the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, with his grandson, 
Rev. Raymond D. Purdy Jr. officiating. 
Interment at a later date at the convenience of the family.

p.m. until the time of the service. Military services will be held

Chip Young

Mr. Edmund P. “Chip” Young, 85, a longtime resident of Wyalusing, 
Laceyville and Meshoppen, Pa., passed away early Monday morning, 
August 31, 2009, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical 
Center, Plains Township. 
He was born in Skinners Eddy, Pa., on September 1, 1923, the third 
son of nine children of the late Roscoe C. and Helen Benninger Young. 
Growing up in Laceyville, Pa., he divided his time with his immediate 
family and his grandparents, who lived in South Auburn, Pa. 
Chip attended Laceyville High School, and graduated in 1942. While in 
school, Chip played baseball, and after school he worked on a 
neighboring farm. 
While serving in the European Theater from 1943 until 1945, in the 
U.S. Army, Chip served with distinction, earning a Bronze Star for 
Valor. Chip was nearly killed in a battle in Poe Valley, Italy, in 
the winter of 1944, a battle in which he was awarded the Purple Heart 
for injuries that would hinder him his entire life. 
After the service, he returned to Meshoppen, and married the former 
Janet Fassett. He was a longtime employee of Gay’s Hardware Store in 
Tunkhannock, leaving to operate the family farm in Terrytown, near 
Wyalusing, for the next several years. 
In 1964, Chip bought the controlling interest in the Trail Inn in 
Meshoppen, operating it until he fully retired in 1990, developing 
lifelong friendships with people from the entire Northern Tier. 
Chip was a member of the Rought Hall Post 510 American Legion in 
Black Walnut, where he was Commander from 1987 to 1988, and was the 
membership chairman for many years. Chip was also a member of the 
40&8, a subsidiary group of the American Legion. While a member, he 
was responsible for many fundraising events. 
It was not unusual to see Chip barbecuing chicken at the Meshoppen 
Ball Park, providing funds to be used for the community’s youth, to 
send them to nursing school. He also organized and was Master of 
Ceremonies at many Memorial Day celebrations held at the Post. He was 
also a member of the Endless Mountains Post 3583 V.F.W. in Mehoopany. 
For many years, Chip coached the Meshoppen Little League Baseball 
team and was the coach of a Roosevelt Trail All-Star team that came 
very close to advancing to the Little League World Series at 
Williamsport. In 1971, Chip was recognized for his outstanding 
service to the community of Meshoppen. 
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, 
Duane Young and Alfred Young; and three sisters, Lena Barber, Violet 
Williams and Jeanette Johnson. 
Surviving are his two sons and their wives, Jerry and Cathy Young, of 
Meshoppen, Pa.; and Terry and Georgia Young, of Dover, Del; his 
grandchildren, Jerry and Mary Ann Young, of Bernville, Pa.; Jason 
Young, of Meshoppen, Pa.; Kristen Young, of Seattle, Wash.; and Eric 
and Kim Young, of Clayton, Del.; and his two great-grandchildren, 
Brent Edmund Young and Braden Young. Chip is also survived by his ex-
wife and longtime friend, Janet Fassett Young, of Tunkhannock; three 
sisters, Armeda God, of Wyalusing, Pa., Beatrice Johnson, of Towanda, 
Pa., and Iva Johnson, of Wyalusing, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Sheldon 
Funeral Home, Main St., Meshoppen, Pa., with his nephew, the Rev. 
James God, of the Bible Baptist Church in New Bloomfield, Pa., 
officiating. Interment will be in the Jersey Hill Cemetery in 
Meshoppen, Pa. Graveside Military services will be conducted by the 
members of the Rought Hall Post 510 American Legion, the Endless 
Mountains Post 3583 V.F.W. and the Dennis Strong Post 457 American 
Legion. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, 
from 6 to 9 p.m.

Donald L. James

Donald L. James of Meshoppen, PA, passed away at his home on 
Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009. He was born in Kingston, Oct 26, 1934, son of 
the late William D. and Louise Troster James.

He was a 1952 graduate of Tunkhannock High School, was a Navy veteran 
and member of the Tin Can Sailors, JP Kennedy Crewmembers Association 
and the Black Walnut American Legion.

Prior to enlisting in the Navy, he was employed by the Troster 
Insurance Agency. After returning home from the Navy, he was a self-
employed farmer and later worked at Bendix Corporation in South 
Montrose and for Farm Credit in Tunkhannock. He retired in 1997 from 
Cornell Industrial Company in Laceyville, where he worked as 
purchasing manager. 

He was a member of the Meshoppen United Methodist Church and its 
church choir. For 25 years, Don was a member of the Belltones Gospel 
Trio and Quartet. He was an avid photographer, known for his slide 
and vocal presentations to various church and civic organizations and 
was the past president of the Montrose Camera Club. Mr. James was a 
member of Franklin Lodge F.&A.M. #263 of Laceyville and served as 
Past Master. He was a former member of the Irem Legion of Honor and 
other Masonic Organizations. He was Past Patron of Meshoppen Chapter 
O.E.S. #70.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Gail Griffith James; sister-in-
law, Edith James of Fairfield, NJ; nephews, William D. James and 
spouse, Jill of Corona, CA, Alan J. James and spouse, Kimberly of 
Washington, NJ; god-children, Linda Gail Eberlin Diffley of Flanders, 
NJ, Alan J. James of Washington, NJ and Barry Kloda of New York City, 
NY and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 
his brother, William D. James, III and a niece, Linda Diane James.

Graveside funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 11 
a.m. in the Jersey Hill Cemetery, Jersey Hill. 

Friends called at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc., 73 W. 
Tioga St., Tunkhannock, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. 

A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 1 
p.m. in the Meshoppen United Methodist Church with Pastor Thomas Mott 
and Rev. Saied Adour.

David Culver

Mr. David Gary Culver Sr., 68, of RR 1 Box 1822, Laceyville, Pa. (Black 
Walnut), passed away early Tuesday morning, Feb. 17, 2009, at the Robert Packer 
Hospital in Sayre, Pa., after an illness.
 Dave was born in Meshoppen, Pa. on Oct. 30, 1940, the son of the late Orwin K. 
and Dorothy L. Gray Culver. Growing up in the Silvara area, near Laceyville, 
Dave was a graduate of the Wyalusing Valley High School Class of 1958. After 
graduating from high school, Dave joined the U.S. Army. While in the army, David 
served his country overseas, in both France and Vietnam, as well as being 
stationed in Virginia and California. David served for 20 years in the U.S. 
Armed Services, 11 years in the U.S. Army, and nine years in the Army National 
Guard. Dave left the army with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
 After leaving the military, Dave was employed at Procter and Gamble in Mehoopany 
for 26 years as the grounds and service coordinator, retiring in 1995.
During the time he was working at Procter and Gamble, Dave was also employed by 
Sam VanDeMark in Laceyville as a heavy equipment operator, and for the last few 
years, Dave had been working for Dave Heller Excavating of Laceyville, Pa. Dave 
also enjoyed doing mechanic work at his garage near Silvara, where he did 
special repairs and also sold used auto parts.
 A very active member of the Rought Hall American Legion Post 510 American Legion 
in Black Walnut, Dave was very instrumental in the growth of Rought Hall. He, 
along with a few other members, was a very integral part of the new addition(s) 
to the post itself, as well as the building of the new bingo and banquet hall. 
While with the legion, he served on many of the post's committees, as well as 
serving as the post commander for several years and several terms. Dave was also 
a member of the 40 and 8, as well as being a member of the Endless Mountains 
Post 3583 V.F.W. in Mehoopany, Pa. In 2003-2004, he was president of the Band 
Parent Association for Wyalusing Valley High School. He enjoyed watching and 
attending NASCAR racing, rooting for his favorite driver, Ricky Rudd. Dave was a 
long-time and current member of the shuffle board league at Rought Hall American 
Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling and camping with his family and 
many friends. David was an avid animal lover and greatly enjoyed the company of 
his dog and three cats.
 He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. 
Dave is survived by: his wife of 41 years, the former Barbara J. Repsher Culver

daughters, Betsy and Tim Gacha of Meshoppen, Pa., Pamela and Eric Risch of 
Laceyville, Pa., Deborah and Scott Swenson of Tunkhannock, Pa., Kendra and 
Herbert Cornelius of Retta, Pa., Jessica Culver, and Marissa Culver, both of 
Laceyville, Pa.; his 19 grandchildren, Brianna Bennett, Emily and Laura Gacha, 
Ashley Oswald, Rebecca and Natalie Camp, Jared and Jacob Risch, Brady and Jenna 
Glass, Madison and Erica Swenson, Joshua Franklin, Taylah Culver, Alexis and 
Nathan Schrader, David and Emily Cornelius, and Owen Culver; two 
great-grandchildren, Sydney Friedlander and Shay Gartland; two brothers, Robert 
Culver of Angola, N.Y., and Philip Culver (Betty Swingle) of Vernon, Pa.; two 
sisters, Linda (Robert) English of Laceyville, Pa., and Louise Snyder of Mineola 
Texas; and his extended family of mother-in-law and father-in-law Evelyn and 
Charles Boyer of Laceyville, Pa., brother-in-law Roger Repsher of Laceyville, 
Pa., and sister-in-law Carol (Jim) Furman of Wyalusing, Pa.; as well as many 
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, from the 
Braintrim Baptist Church in Laceyville, Pa. with Rev. Thomas Davis of the church 
officiating. Interment will be in the Lacey Street Cemetery in Laceyville, Pa. 
Family and friends may call at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, 
Laceyville, Pa. on from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009. 
Graveside military services will be conducted by: the members of the Rought Hall 
Post 510 American Legion; Dennis Strong Post 457 American Legion; and the 
Endless Mountains Post 3583 VFW.
 
Truman (Ed) Nagle, 7

Mr. Nagle was born in Courtdale on May 13, 1930, and was the son of 
the late Charles K. and Irene Lasher Nagle.

He graduated from Kingston High School and served in the U.S. Navy 
and was a member of the American Legion in Black Walnut.

Prior to retiring, he was employed by Procter and Gamble, Mehoopany.

Ed loved living along the Susquehanna River at Black Walnut and spent 
many good years fishing and enjoying time spent with friends and 
family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Joy Dagle; and a 
brother, Charles.

Surviving are daughters, Susan Nagle Bentel and her husband, Long 
Island, N.Y.; Beth Nagle DeSzego and her husband, Seville, Spain; 
sister, Jane Thier, Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren; and nieces 
and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from Curtis L. 
Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, 
with the Rev. Kenneth Brown, pastor of Maple Grove United Methodist 
Church, officiating

 Services were 4/16/09 at 7:00 P.M. at the Tunkhannock United 
Methodist Church.

passed away Tuesday evening, April 8, 2008, at his home following

Maurice Wayne Hunting D.D.S., 76, of Tunkhannock,
died Saturday evening at Mercy Hospital, Scranton, after an illness. 
He was born in Huntingville, Quebec, Canada, 
a son of the late Roy and Louise Sarasin Hunting. 
He was married for 50 years to the late Florence Louise Parry, 
who died in 2005. 
He attended the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church. 
He was a graduate of Ashville, N.C. High School and a graduate of 
Wake Forest University, class of 1953. He received his doctor of 
dental surgery from the University of Pittsburgh. 
He served with the Navy and the Army during the Korean Conflict. 
He opened a dental practice in Meshoppen in 1965 and moved his 
practice to Tunkhannock in 1974 as Dental Health Care Center and 
retired Aug. 7, 2007.
